ABOUT PROJECT SETU

The Directorate of Education, GNCT of Delhi is committed to imparting qualitative, continuous and inclusive education to all children of Delhi. In continuation of this commitment, Project Setu has been initiated as a special intervention to address the educational needs of students who are at risk of dropping out from the formal schooling system.

Project Setu aims to provide a new window of opportunity to students of Government Schools of Delhi who repeatedly fail in Class IX/X. The project seeks to prevent dropout at the secondary level and ensure continued educational pursuits by enrolling such students under the flexible learning system of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Noida.

Students of Government Schools of DoE, Delhi who repeatedly fail in Class IX/X are eligible to take admission under Project Setu for Class X. A total of 75 Setu Study Centres have been designated in various Government Schools of DoE, Delhi. Regular classes for these students are being conducted at these study centres.

To ensure effective academic delivery, 07 posts of Guest Teachers have been sanctioned for each Study Centre. One Guest Teacher is engaged for each subject: Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Science, Social Science, Home Science, Painting, and Data Entry Operations.

Students who successfully pass Class X through NIOS under this project are granted admission in Class XI in their parent Government Schools of DoE. This initiative effectively brings potential dropouts back into the mainstream education system.

The Setu Project reinforces the Department’s commitment to inclusive education by ensuring that no child is left behind due to academic barriers.
